The weather in Australia
Australia has four climate zones. The northern part of the country has a tropical climate with a warm and wet period from November till April. The western part of Australia as well as parts of Queensland have a subtropical climate with slightly lower temperatures and much lower precipitation figures during the winter. The outback has a continental climate with hot days and cool nights during the winter. The southern part of the country has a moderate climate with very pleasant weather from October till April and low precipitation figures during this period. Hurricanes (cyclones) only occur in the northern part of Australia. The northeastern part has the biggest risk of hurricanes, the northwestern part to a lesser degree. The hurricane season is from January till March.
