The British Virgin Islands are an archipelago in the Caribbean next to the American Virgin Islands. The British Virgin islands consist of Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, Jost Van Dyke, Peter Island, Salt Island, Beef Island, Cooper Island, Ginger Island, Norman Island and many smaller islands, more than 50 in total. The best period to travel here is during the first few months of the year. During this period humidity figures are much lower and temperatures are very pleasant. During the second part of the year there is a risk of tropical storms and hurricanes. Most tourists travel here to enjoy the sun, sea and beautiful beaches. Because many ship wrecks can be found off the coast of the British Virgin Islands this place is very popular among divers. The interior of the islands mainly consist of tropical rainforests.
