The Cayman Islands are a British overseas Territory located in the Caribbean Sea. The Cayman Islands are mainly known as a tax haven in the Caribbean. The islands were discovered by Columbus during one of his voyages to the new world. During the 17th century the islands were colonized by the British. Until Jamaica became independent the Cayman Islands were under the administration of this island, after this it became a British overseas Territory. The Cayman Islands consist of three islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

The largest island is Grand Cayman on which the capital Georgetown is situated as well. About half of the total population live in the capital. The two smaller islands are not as popular among tourists as the main island. Because of ideal weather conditions during the winter the Cayman Islands are an ideal winter sun destination. Several beautiful white beaches can be found on the islands. Most tourists stay in one of the many luxurious hotels.

The weather in Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands have a tropical monsoon climate with high precipitation figures all year round. Most precipitation falls during the second part of the year. During this period there is a risk of tropical storms and hurricanes. During this period humidity figures are very high as well. During the winter average temperatures are around 30 degrees Celsius (86.0 degrees Fahrenheit). The first few months of the year are the driest. This is the best period to visit the Cayman Islands.

Most tourists stay on the main island of Grand Cayman, especially George Town is a popular destination. Several tourist zones can be found on the island as well, such as West Bay. Most tourists spend their holiday along the coast. The islands OF Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are especially popular among snorkelers and divers.
