Laos sunindex: the best time to travel to Laos
Laos is located in the southeastern part of Asia and borders Myanmar, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Laos is not a typical winter sun destination although all the climatologic characteristics are present. It is probably not the most ideal winter sun destination because of the absence of beaches. However, the country has a lot more to offer. Laos has about the same culture as Thailand but more authentic. The cultural capital of the country is Luang Prabang. Here you can find all Laotian temples as well as remains from the colonial era. Luang Prabang is a Unesco preservation site. From 1893 till the second part of the 20th century Laos was under French rule. The interior of Laos mainly consists of rainforests and are not easily passable because of this; not many real roads can be found in this area. The Si Phan Don swamp is the ideal resting point for backpackers during their stay in Laos. Many islands can be found in this marshland; the most popular islands are Don Khon and Don Det. The best way to travel through Laos is by bus or with a private driver.

The weather in Laos
Text.Laos has three climate types: the eastern part of the country has a warm China climate. The rest of the country either has a tropical monsoon climate or a tropical savannah climate. The best period to visit Laos is during the winter because this is the driest period and humidity figures are much more pleasant. During the second part of the year there is a small risk of tropical storms and hurricanes. During the winter nights may be cold. We advise you to bring a warm sweater.
